Meet Fatima

Dr. Fatima La’Juan Muse is a medical family therapist, educator, small-business owner, and community advocate running for Texas House District 2.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Fatima earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications and Theater Arts from Dillard University, her master’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, and her PhD in Medical Family Therapy from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Her professional work has focused on helping individuals, couples, and families navigate difficult circumstances, with particular expertise in reproductive health and infertility.

Fatima’s roots in Hunt County go back generations. Her mother was raised in Greenville alongside twelve brothers and sisters, and Fatima spent her childhood summers there surrounded by a large extended family. Those summers gave her a connection to Hunt County long before she eventually made Texas her home.

After completing her doctoral training, Fatima chose Commerce as home. Today, she lives and works in the community she is seeking to represent.

As a medical family therapist, Fatima’s work requires her to listen carefully, ask difficult questions, help people work through disagreement, and turn complicated problems into practical plans. Those same skills shape the way she approaches public service.
